Guardian's Guide: Caring for your leather

Your piece was handcrafted to last a lifetime, but like all natural materials, it requires a little respect to age gracefully. Because I use ethically sourced hides and traditional hand-stitching, these simple steps will ensure your gear stays as bold as the day it left my workshop.

The Golden Rule: Keep it dry | Leather is porous. If your belt or accessory gets soaked, do not reach for the hair dryer. High heat will strip the natural oils and cause the leather to crack.

- The Fix: Pat it dry with a clean cloth and let it air dry naturally at room temperature.

Clean with Care For everyday dust or dirt, a quick wipe with a soft, dry microfiber cloth is all you need. If your peice is actually dirty:

- Use a damp (not dripping) cloth with a tiny bit of leather-specific soap.

-Always test a small, hidden srea first to ensure it doesn't darken the dye

Condition the Hide Think of leather like skin, because it is. It needs "moisturizer" to stay supple. Every 3-6 months (or is it starts feeling stiff), apply a high-quality leather balm or conditioner.

Pro Tip: Use a lint-free cloth and rub in circular motions. Let it sit for a few minutes, then buff off the excess.

Storage Matters | Leather has a "memory". If you leave a belt crumpled in a heap, it will eventually take that shape. The best way to store belts is to hang them by the buckle or roll them loosley. Keep your piece out of direct sunlight for long periods to prevent fading.

A Note on the Hand Stitch: Becaus your piece is hand-stitched and not machine-locked, the thread is incredibly durable. If the thread ever looks "fuzzy" dont pull it. Simply singe the tip carefully with a lighter and seal it back down.
